That You make my times in the night and the day inhabited by Your remembrance. Sheikh Tusi names this prayer “Du’a al-Khadir” and narrates that Kumayl ibn Ziyad saw Imam ‘Ali narrate this prayer while he was in sujood prostration. This appeal, or invocation may be one calling for blessings or evil. According to Allama MajlesiKumayl ibn Ziyada confidante of Ali ibn Abi Talib had attended an assembly in the Mosque at Basra which was addressed by Imam Ali in the course of which the night of the 15th of Sha’aban a month was mentioned.
I entreat Thee begging Thee submissively, humbly and awestrickenly To treat me with clemency and mercy, and to make me pleased and contented with what Thou hast allotted to me And cause envlish to be modest and unassuming in all circumstances.
I have stretched forth my hands therefore, by Thy honour, respond to my supplication and let me attain my wishes and, by Thy bounty, frustrate not my hopes and protect me from the evils of my enemies, from among the jinns and mankind o’ Thou!
Bestow upon me for the sake of Your having given rise [to me] with generosity and Your previous goodness to me!
Dia You who gave rise to my creation, to the remembrance of me, to the nurture of me, to goodness toward me and to nourishment on me. A du’a may engoish God in any circumstance to which one may be afflicted.
Forgive my such sins as would suppress hope. Environmental conditions and how to pray, adab, have been suggested to Muslims praying intimately with God through Du’a. The interpretation of one’s personal interaction with God through du’a presents several differences.
O Allah forgive me for those sins which cut down the hopes! Except Thee I do not find any one able to pardon my sins ennglish to conceal my loathsome acts Nor have I any one except Thee to change my evil deeds into virtues There is no god but Thou glory and praise be to Thee I have made my own soul to suffer I had the audacity to sin by my ignorance Relying upon my past remembrance of Thee and Thy grace towards me.
Widely considered a request for one’s own or a community’s well being, a du’a serves as a direct spiritual connection with God. O’ Thou upon Whom I rely!
O Allah, verily I ask You with the asking of a submissive, abased and lowly man to show me forbearance, to have mercy on me And to make me satisfied and content with Your appointment and [make me] humble in every state. Forgive me my such sins as would bring down calamity. And make me one of the most excellent of Your slaves in Portion from Enlgish, And the nearest of them in station kumaol You And the most elected of them in proximity to You.
O Allah, so accept my excuse, Have mercy upon the severity of my affliction And release me from the engoish of my fetters, My Lord, have mercy upon the weakness of my body, the thinness of my skin and the frailty of my bones.
Or how should he be convulsed among its levels, while You knowest his sincerity? No such opinion is held of You! And how much beautiful praise, for which I was unworthy, You englisg spread abroad! O Allah, Your force is tremendous, Your englissh is lofty, And Your deception is hidden, Your command is manifest, And Your domination is overwhelming, Your power is unhindered And escape from Your governance is impossible.

The Du’a al-Kumayl is specifically recited for “protecting against the evil of enemies, for opening the gate of one’s daily bread and for the forgiveness of sins. Thou hast therefore a just cause against me in all those matters and I have no plea against Thy judgement passed against me I have therefore become justifiably liable to Thy judgement and afflictions.
Rather We hurl the truth against falsehood, and it crushes its head And how can he be tossed about between its layers when Thou knowest his sincerity? O Allah, forgive me for those sins which draw down adversities! And spare me the evil of my enemies from among the jinn and men!
And desire fervently Your proximity among the fervently desirous.

Ali then advised Kumayl ibn Ziyad to recite this du’a on the eve of i. The outcome that God suffices, will always produce a greater benefit to all, rather than to that of the individual. And after the sincerity of my confession and my supplication, humble before Your lordship?
