Why would anyone want to write about this kind of indulgent, boring uninteresting people, even though I know their type exist? Here are some of my personal thoughts on the themes. Why Anita Desai’s 1995 novel ‘Journey to Ithaca’ is her very best work

The characters were painfully difficult to relate to and I’m unsure if this was the author’s aim and the story felt inappropriately unresolved. Sophie and Matteo- married and exiled, intellectually.
